My name is Chris and I’ve been an RX8 owner for over a decade now. I started this site because I wanted to chronicle my experiences owning a rotary powered car and try to explain what possessed me to swap a Honda k24 into my car.
When I started down this path there was very little info on the swap. Few people had done it and even fewer had publicly documented it. There was nothing easy about this swap so I figured by posting my build if I saved a few poor souls some time, money or knuckle skin I could better justify the 18 months I spent trying to figure this stuff out.
I did most of this stuff myself so if nothing else maybe it will inspire someone to pursue their own build. I’m nothing special — I have no special mechanical training or education in engineering. I simply took my time, bit off small chunks at a time and asked myself “how hard could it be?” Above all I was dedicated to the process. In my mind scrapping the car or the project was not an option. I had no idea how difficult this was going to be and how many setbacks I would run into but once I started there was no looking back
So why did I not put an LS in it? Nothing against LS swaps but it just didn’t seem right. Every time I thought LS I had a hard time not ending my thought with “why wouldn’t I just go buy a corvette?” I wanted to keep the character of the car and a high revving four cylinder seemed like the most appropriate choice. The k24 is similar in weight to the Renesis, makes more power and has seemingly endless aftermarket support. To me it just seems like a better starting point but I understand why some people don’t agree.
Spoiler alert… this project is done(ish). So if you want to follow along and see where I been and where I’m going — welcome.
